Papillon Gin is an award-winning gin that is made in small batches using a copper still at their distillery in Moretonhampstead, Dartmoor. As well as traditional gin botanicals they use ‘Dartmoor flavours’ including fresh gorse flowers from the moor, rowan and hawthorn berries, chamomile, nettles, navelwort and Devon violets. Each batch is made with fresh spring water from a nearby hill farm where Pearl Bordered Fritillaries frequent. Papillon is named after this species, a threatened Dartmoor butterfly that feeds on wild violets. They donate 1% from every bottle sold to a local Butterfly Conservation project that protects this species.
